I planted bulbs all along the house in the fall; it was meant to be a surprise for David, but it was really a way of reminding myself: spring will be here again.

and now it's finally blooming.

It's amazing how fast the green returns, how the little plants push up into the sunlight with such determination.  It was in the 70's by this afternoon.  I wanted to go climb up one of the utility poles and sing my heart out with all the other spring-crazed birds.

weekend housecleaning

The children were up in arms about housecleaning morning. 

"WE DON'T WANT TO CLEAN!" they hollered.

"Tell you what, I'll take before and after pictures so you can see the result of your work."

(Don't you love it when a brilliant idea for a kid-motivator comes out of your mouth?)

On April Fools we were treated to a whole range of little tricks -- cellophane over the toilet, little boy undies in my lunch bag (clean of course), fake children in the bed at bedtime (real children running about).  But there was one trick we missed, one that took us totally unawares the next day.

                   BUZZZZZ (re-enacted brilliantly by the Daddy)

hiding under the cushion: battery, wire, and one loud little buzzer!  Arranged so that any pressure on the cushion would complete the wire circuit and make the buzzer go.

Clever little boys.

Saturday breakfast, all by himself

                    with turkey bacon and homemade maple syrup
