this morning! A bit impromptu. In our neighborhood, there had once been a tradition of monthly potlucks in the summer. And now, with several new families in the area, everyone has been talking about reviving it. And (of course) awhile back we volunteered: "Let us host the first one!" But then weeks spilled into weeks -- when were we going to host this first neighborhood event? And then it seemed Sunday (today!) held a window. And if we didn't do it now, we might never!
But then it meant we had to clean the house. Really clean the house. Get it ready for a party!
It was now or never.
So yesterday we...
(we stuck them on door where no one was home)
And then today....
OK I can hear you from here. "WHAT?" Well, we had bats in our playroom last night. In the middle of the night. Two of them. And we got them out. Really the Daddy got them out. I just danced around and tried to keep from shrieking. But this morning we weren't sure if there were more. And we just couldn't deal. So big brother made a nice big warning sign. "bats!"
As for the party:
and finally:
Wonderful. We had twenty-one neighbors stop by for pancakes with something sweet on top (take your pick: cherry syrup, blackberry sauce, or peaches and rasperries! And a little fresh goat cheese too. All home-made neighborly contributions to the event.)
And as I was doing the dishes (and the dishes and the dishes) I was saying to David, "Shouldn't we do this again NEXT weekend?"
